The Order of National Hero (NH)

This is the highest national honour. It is awarded for “extraordinary and outstanding achievement and merit in service to Antigua and Barbuda or to humanity at large.”

· Current Recipients: Sir Vere Cornwall Bird Sr. (the nation’s first Prime Minister and Father of the Nation).

The Order of the Nation (ON)

Awarded to Governors-General and Prime Ministers of Antigua and Barbuda upon their appointment. Other persons who have rendered exceptional service to the country may also be awarded.

· Typical Recipients: All individuals who have served as Prime Minister or Governor-General.

The Order of Excellence (OE)

Awarded to distinguished foreign nationals (Heads of State, Government, or other eminent persons) for pre-eminent service to Antigua and Barbuda or to humanity at large.

The Order of Merit (OM)

Awarded for outstanding achievement in science, the arts, literature, or other fields.

The Order of Princely Heritage (OPH)

Awarded for dedicated and outstanding service in the field of culture, sports, or civic duties.

The Knight of the Most Illustrious Order of the National Hero (KNH) / Dame of the Most Illustrious Order of the National Hero (DNH)
This is a knighthood level within the Order of the National Hero, awarded for distinguished and outstanding service of national or international character.

The Knight of the Most Precious Order of the Nation (KCN) / Dame of the Most Precious Order of the Nation (DCN)

This is a knighthood level within the Order of the Nation, awarded for distinguished and outstanding service to the community or to Antigua and Barbuda.

The Star of Merit of the Order of the Nation (SM)

Awarded for meritorious and devoted service contributing to the national welfare and development.

The Medal of Honour of the Order of the Nation (MH)

Awarded for long, dedicated, and outstanding service in any field of human endeavour.

The Medal of Valour of the Order of the Nation (MV)

Awarded for an act of exceptional bravery in the face of danger.
